Piha is New Zealand’s most famous surf beach. On the untamed West Coast of the North Island, Piha is only a few kilometers outside of Auckland, New Zealand’s biggest city, yet is almost primeval in its wildness. With black iron sand and fearsome surf, Piha beach is famed for its natural beauty.
This North Piha Triptych shows the beach at sunset. The setting sun reflects off the water, and the blue sky provides a striking contrast with the black sand.
